Tau Protein

Tau Protein

The role of tau as a microtubule-associated protein in neurons is well established. They play major roles in preserving the stability of microtubules in axons and are widely distributed in central nervous system (CNS) neurons. However, in a variety of neurodegenerative disorders collectively known as tauopathies, aberrant assembly of tau into insoluble aggregates is accompanied by synaptic dysfunction and neural cell death.
