MNK

MNK

Mitogen-activated protein kinase-interacting kinases 1 and 2 (MNK1 and MNK2) phosphorylate the oncogene eIF4E on serine 209.According to reports, this phosphorylation is necessary for the protein's oncogenic activity. The translational machinery's essential cog, eukaryotic initiation factor 4E (eIF4E), plays a crucial role in controlling cell growth and proliferation. Inhibitory binding proteins (4E-BPs) are thought to interact with eIF4E to control its activity, and mitogen-activated protein kinase-interacting kinase (MNK), which is activated in response to mitogens and cellular stress, phosphorylates eIF4E on Ser209.
