Flavonoids

Flavonoids are an important class of natural products. They specifically belong to a group of secondary plant metabolites with a polyphenolic structure that are commonly found in fruits, vegetables, and some drinks. Depending on the carbon of the C ring that the B ring is linked to as well as the level of unsaturation and oxidation of the C ring, flavonoids can be split into many subgroups. These subgroups include chalcones, anthocyanins, flavones, flavonols, flavanones, and flavanonols. In a wide range of nutraceutical, pharmacological, therapeutic, and cosmetic applications, flavonoids are now seen as an essential component. This is explained by their ability to influence the activity of essential cellular enzymes as well as their anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, and anti-carcinogenic capabilities. Natural flavonoids are recognized to possess biological properties that make them suitable for use as medications, for instance, in the treatment of conditions like cancer, Alzheimer's disease (AD), atherosclerosis, etc.
