Imetestat is a telomerase inhibitor that can cause cancer cells to lose their ability to maintain telomere length, thereby inhibiting cell proliferation[1]. Imetestat (1.8-7.5 μM; 2-7 days) can inhibit the proliferation of CD34+ cells in primary myelofibrosis and induce apoptosis, but has no significant effect on normal umbilical cord blood CD34+ cells[2].
