The combination of pea lectin FITC and Hoechst 33258 can accurately detect the acrosome status and motility of pig and goat sperm, and is an effective method for assessing sperm function [1]. Pea lectin (1-10 μg/mL; 24 h) (FITC) can stimulate the supernatant of untreated C57BL/6 mouse spleen cells and induce nitric oxide production in thioglycolate-induced mouse peritoneal macrophages in a dose-dependent manner [2]. Pea lectin (1-3 μg/mL; 24 h) (FITC) can induce untreated C57BL/6 mouse spleen cells to produce large amounts of IFNγ and TNFα [2]. Pea lectin (3 μg/mL; 24 h) can activate immature CD3+ spleen cells of C57BL/6 mice within 24 hours, upregulate the expression of CD69, downregulate the expression of L-selectin, but do not change the expression of CD122 or VLA-4 [2].

Doses: 200 µg Route of Administration: Intravenous injection; single dose Experimental Results: At 24, 48 and 72 hours post-injection, the proliferative response of splenic mononuclear cells to in vitro mitotic stimulation was reduced; lectin-induced proliferation was almost completely blocked, and PMA+ ionomycin-induced proliferation was inhibited at 24 hours. At 24 hours post-injection, the percentage of splenic CD3+ cells increased; the CD4/CD8 ratio remained unchanged. At 24 hours post-injection, the percentage of CD3+ cells expressing activation markers CD69 and CD122 increased. At 24 hours post-injection, L-selectin expression in CD3+ cells decreased, while VLA-4 expression showed no significant change. |
