Product Description
14:0 PEG5000 PE is a PEG lipid functional end group used in the preparation /synthesis of liposomes (LPs) for the design of conjugated polymer nanoparticles. Liposome nanoparticles (LNPs) can be further coupled with other biomolecules through biotin modification and carboxyl terminus. Functionalized nanoparticles can be used for targeted labeling of specific cellular proteins. Using streptavidin as a linker, biotinylated PEG lipid-conjugated polymer nanoparticles are able to bind to biotinylated antibodies on cell surface receptors, resulting in practical applications for fluorescence-based imaging and sensing.
14:0 PEG-PE is a PEG-phospholipid conjugate used to prepare nanostructured lipid carriers. It consists of a 14-carbon fatty acid tail (myristoyl), a polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain, and a phosphoethanolamine (PE) headgroup. The compound is used in the preparation of liposomes for the design of conjugated polymer nanoparticles. Its molecular formula is C37H75N2O11P.
Biological Activity I Assay Protocols (From Reference)
Targets
14:0 PEG-PE does not have a specific biological target. It is a lipid-polymer conjugate used as a formulation excipient for drug delivery. The 14:0 fatty acid tail facilitates membrane integration, while the PEG chain helps reduce immune recognition and prolongs circulation time in vivo. This makes it an effective component in targeted delivery and controlled-release therapies.
ln Vitro
In vitro, 14:0 PEG-PE is used to formulate lipid nanoparticles for drug delivery. Its presence in formulations can enhance stability and reduce protein adsorption. Specific activity data are not applicable as it is not a pharmacologically active drug.
ln Vivo
In vivo, 14:0 PEG-PE is used to formulate lipid-based drug delivery systems. The PEG chain prolongs circulation time and reduces immune recognition, which can improve the pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of encapsulated drugs. It is used in the preparation of nanostructured lipid carriers.
Enzyme Assay
A cell-free assay for 14:0 PEG-PE is not applicable as it is not a pharmacologically active compound. Its properties are characterized by physical methods, such as dynamic light scattering and zeta potential measurement.
Cell Assay
Cellular experiments with 14:0 PEG-PE typically involve evaluating the uptake and biocompatibility of lipid nanoparticles containing the compound. The compound is used as a formulation component rather than an active agent. Specific protocols depend on the encapsulated drug.
Animal Protocol
In vivo animal experiments using 14:0 PEG-PE typically involve the administration of lipid-based formulations containing the compound. Specific protocols depend on the therapeutic payload and disease model.
ADME/Pharmacokinetics
14:0 PEG-PE is a formulation excipient and does not have conventional pharmacokinetic properties as a pharmacologically active drug. Its role is to modify the PK of encapsulated drugs by prolonging circulation time.
Toxicity/Toxicokinetics
14:0 PEG-PE is generally considered non-toxic and is used in pharmaceutical and biomedical research. However, specific toxicity data are not provided. It is intended for research use and is not for direct human consumption as a standalone agent.

Note: Please be aware that the above formulations are for reference only. InvivoChem strongly recommends customers to read literature methods/protocols carefully before determining which formulation you should use for in vivo studies, as different compounds have different solubility properties and have to be formulated differently.

(Please use freshly prepared in vivo formulations for optimal results.)
Preparing Stock Solutions 1 mg 5 mg 10 mg
1 mM 1.3246 mL 6.6228 mL 13.2456 mL
5 mM 0.2649 mL 1.3246 mL 2.6491 mL
10 mM 0.1325 mL 0.6623 mL 1.3246 mL

*Note: Please select an appropriate solvent for the preparation of stock solution based on your experiment needs. For most products, DMSO can be used for preparing stock solutions (e.g. 5 mM, 10 mM, or 20 mM concentration); some products with high aqueous solubility may be dissolved in water directly. Solubility information is available at the above Solubility Data section. Once the stock solution is prepared, aliquot it to routine usage volumes and store at -20°C or -80°C.
